We parked at the Expedition Pass Reservoir and started our walk down the wide path that narrows to a track as you continue along. This is an easy, flat walk through vibrant and ever changing terrain.
As you follow the track you’ll discover the historic gold diggings. You can visualise many miners working this area and get a feel for how difficult the conditions would have been especially in the colder months. Follow the creek

One lone wattle
Walk as little or as far as you like. We wandered for an hour or so then returned the way we came. This charming track features natural and historical landscape but do stay on the track to avoid any old mine shafts.
Now, grab your Billy and your Bluey and enjoy a picnic at the reservoir before or after this fascinatingly walk. Note: no toilets 🥴

On our next visit to Castlemaine, we look forward to walking the Garfield Waterwheel to Welsh Village Loop which is located in the same national park.
