I had been to Daylesford for day trips and to be quite honest I thought the town was overrated. Crowded, rather snobbish and certainly not the relaxing spa country you envisage. I struggled to find the appeal BUT on this trip I stayed a little longer, delved a little deeper and explored the region, mostly on foot, and can now understand why so many people return to this tranquil place.
There is much to explore in historic Daylesford including the Convent Gallery, Amazing Mill Market and many cafes selling local produce. There is plenty of tourist information available in town or checkout the links at the bottom of this page.
We concentrated on 3 picturesque but very different walks. The first, an easy stroll around Lake Daylesford on the Peace Mile path and into town. There are many points of interest as shown here on Walking Maps https://walkingmaps.com.au/walk/3134 so grab a coffee or a water bottle and take in the natural surroundings.

Our next two walks were energising and perfect pick me ups after our first COVID lockdown. Due to my excitement over the these walks I have posted separate blogs with additional information. Please see below.

We stayed at the Daylesford Holiday Park for 3 nights. A peaceful setting amongst many trees with clean amenities. You can walk into town via Daylesford Lake – approx 5 kms round trip. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we left the van at the caravan park, for a small fee and drove back the following weekend for 2 more nights.
