I would like to say at 8am we rolled out the gates on the first morning of our adventure however it was more likely at 8am we rolled out of bed. We’ve spent over 30 years setting the alarm clock for 6am so we decided that during this trip we would NEVER set the alarm clock. Around 10.30am we finally drove out the gate.

We headed west through very dry, flat farmland with bright gold fields and distant blue skies. It was easy driving and there is always something of interest on the roads.

Peak hour traffic.
Our first stop was a free camp in Dimboola. We only stayed overnight as we were determined to get over that bloody border and into South Australia before another lockdown.

After 3 COVID Lockdowns and a 12 month delay we finally stepped over the Victorian / South Australian border. No words can explain our excitement. The look on our faces (below) says it all.😁

That’s one small step for us…
No words necessary.
Woo hoo here we come😁
We continued to Tailem Bend for a few days of relaxation on the Murray River. There’s not a lot to do or see here. Although, surprisingly there is a BIG Rhinoceros as you enter the town. Who knew rhinos roamed throughout SA?🥴 Anyway we promised ourselves (or maybe that was just me) that we’d pull over and take photos of all the BIG icons in Australia and a BIG thanks to Dave for cooperating😍

We also had some fun crossing The Murray on a free ferry. If you’ve never done this then I suggest you do.

Someone’s excited😜
We spent 3 nights staying at the Westbrook Caravan Park right on the bank of the Murray River.

Nice spot on the river

In conclusion of our first 2021 travel blog post I’d like to say thank you to our family and friends for all the goodbye dinners & drinks, to our loving parents and to my sisters for our thoughtful travelling gifts.
