We arrived at the beginning of the long weekend and checked into Levi Caravan park which is situated on the River Torrens about 4 kms from Adelaide City.
We spent the week sightseeing by walking, riding & catching buses. I loved travelling on Adelaide buses. The O-Bahn guided busway is the worlds fastest and at 12kms long you’re suddenly an extra in the movie Speed.🚍
We hit the usual Adelaide tourist destinations. Below is a quick summary of our week.
Only 20 minutes from Adelaide is Hahndorf the oldest German town in Australia. We wandered Main Street and bought many tasty delights – German sausages, pretzels, gingerbread, fudge and fruit? (just kidding) fruit-chocolates. Lunch was a delicious German affair of Pork schnitzel with mashed potatoes & red cabbage and a German Hot Dog with the works courtesy of The German Spoon. And yes, Ich habe zu viel gegessen translation I ate too much.🤪

Old Adelaide Gaol gave us a unique glimpse of prison life from 1841 to 1988. It offered some light interactions, but beware of the spine-chilling presence in the Hanging Tower. 👻
Dave became very excited when he spotted a Big Bunnings in the distance. This would be the equivalent of a child spotting Disneyland. Of course we had to stop. We needed something / anything😆

Adelaide Central Market – after we had feasted we spent a couple of hours wandering around this small foodie haven. Samples are below.

Chicken Lemon Mustard Pate
Vegan Sausage Roll
Just wow!

We wandered around the South Australian Museum. It’s a small museum with a well displayed & comprehensive collection.

We rode into Adelaide City from the caravan park along a gorgeous track that follows the River Torrens (river being a strong description – I’d call it a creek😄) however it’s a great ride and we had a lot of fun.
We drove to Mt Lofty Summit Lookout on an overcast day however the view over Adelaide and out to ocean was still impressive . There are many walks and hikes for all levels in this area.

We also checked out the State Library of South Australia, Glenelg Beach, Rundle Mall and made a quick buck at the Casino.🤑
