Perth (WA)

It can be very tiring when travelling (please don’t laugh🥴) so we decided to slowdown a little and have a “holiday within a holiday”. A luxury escape at the Karrinyup Waters Resort Caravan Park was the perfect location for some R&R. 🏝

A few years ago we flew to Perth for a long weekend and had the opportunity to explore Perth attractions like Kings Park, Crown Casino and Hay Street Mall. This time we chose some different places to visit.

Our first stop was the Perth Mint where we experienced the true magic of gold. The centre piece is the largest coin ever made – a one tonne gold coin valued at over $60million dollars. Our tour included the history of the gold rush, original vault and a live gold pour.

During the next few days we walked and ate our way around some of Perth’s most beautiful beaches. In 1983, Dave and six mates drove to Perth in a transit van and stayed at the iconic Cottesloe Beach Hotel so of course we revisited the hotel for a trip down memory lane. Apparently not much has changed except for how many beers Dave could drink with lunch.😆

The beach pool and skate park makes Scarborough a vibrant hub of activity. We grabbed an ice cream, sat down and watched the world go by.🍦🤤

Many footy enthusiasts say that the atmosphere at Optus Stadium is the best and most electric in Australia. We booked tickets and went to a Fremantle vs Sydney game. We thoroughly enjoyed the game which Fremantle won by 2 points. When Fremantle kicked a goal the music would blast, lights flashed and the crowd would sing (sounding like a concert). After the game we walked to Crown Casino with many happy Fremantle supporters.
