Wooramel (WA)

On the way to our next destination we stopped at the Wooramel Roadhouse to refuel our tank and tummies. I love these stops as they really show us a way of life that’s very different from our city ones. My made to order, butter smothered toasted egg & bacon sandwich (with added salt & pepper and a side salad of carrot🥴) was very delicious. This quirky outback roadhouse also had more jewellery for sale than Michael Hill, Goldmark and Prouds combined.

Just past the roadhouse is the Wooramel River Station where we would be spending the next few days.

This station is known for its naturally heated Artesian Bore Baths which many claim are therapeutic. Four large baths line the river bank and you can go in them anytime – day or night. Personally, it was a unique & peaceful experience to bathe at dawn and watch the sunrise whilst listening to all the birds. The photos below were taken during the day (not sunrise) and show one of the baths being refilled which occurs daily.

A 3km river walk took us through the Hysterical Tip which is a dumping ground for old appliances neatly set up as household rooms or unusual characters.

Further along the river walk leads you to the Wooramel River which is usually dry at this time of year. We were lucky to see water and especially to see it flowing.👍
